Bite me . . .

I had somehow missed the entire Twilight saga craze. I know I become completely absorbed with good books - and I was never ready to commit. So, when a friend suggested I borrow her Twilight book to read while I was in Virginia, I was a bit reluctant.

My sister and I bought books #2 and 3 over Thanksgiving and were staying up each night until 3am reading obsessively. I finished Breaking Dawn the following week and then made plans as soon as I could to go see the film.

Here's the problem . . . I'm still obsessed. Like a 13-yr-old, I'd like to wallpaper my room with movie posters, wear Team Edward shirts and make a girls trip to Forks. It's disgusting. I am in love with Edward Cullen (PS - this is not a secret that I'm keeping from Jeff. He rolls his eyes and claims Edward's a pansy . . . I tell him he's just jealous. And, I did confirm with my very wise sister that being in love with a fictional character is not cheating in any way. Phew!).

It doesn't help that I moved away from all of my friends to work a completely stressful job that just never slows down. I read my friends blogs and get homesick and jealous. It's true. Fantasy is just so much easier than real life - making it possible to ignore my kids, husband and family for a few weeks. And, now I have the books stashed around my house. I have already begun the second round of reading. It doesn't even matter the order. I'll pick up whichever book is nearby and start in the middle just to get my Edward fix.

Now, to make matters worse . . . Robert Pattinson? Amazing. The minute I saw that he was actually playing the piano himself in the film . . . in fact, he wrote some of the music . . . that was it. Rob, Edward . . . all de.li.cious. That cute, shy British accent? Yummm.

Yes, I thought Jasper resembled Edward Scissorhands and that Rosalie should have been cast differently . . . but, make no mistakes . . . I'll be buying that movie. I love Edward and Bella (even if you occasionally want to slap her). I liken it to ranch dressing. You can dip anything in ranch dressing and it will taste good. I'm easy to please.

And, just to put you at ease . . . I'm not completely psycho like those moms that come and ask Rob Pattinson - in real life - to bite their babies. I would NEVER waste one of his bites on my kids.

  1. How funny!! Oh Karen, how I miss hearing your crazy stories at bunco. My sister also just started reading the books after seeing the movie. She actually quit in the middle of Eclipse because she couldn't get into the "Christmas spirit" because of her obsession. And, she was dreaming of Edward too much. I think I just read the books too long ago to get too obsessed, but I have seen the movie 3 times. I'd like to go again because it's been a couple of weeks, but I can't talk anybody into going with me again. I'm about ready to take my kids. Well, sorry to ramble, but I too, have moved away from home and this is my only way to communicate with old friends. Merry Christmas in Canada this year!!!

  2. Like Amber, I agree....we miss hearing all your stories at bunco. WE MISS YOU!!!

I still have only read Twlight, but since seeing the movie, I want to read more! I loved the movie. When you get to Utah, let's go and see it (girls night out!)

Hope you have a Merry Christmas! We ill be thinking of you!

  3. Maybe it's just my age showing, but, personally, I think that the picture of the candy cane kiss looks way better than the picture of the so-called hunk.
    Love, MOM

  4. I miss you girls so much, too! Amber, I love that you've seen the movie 3 times. I don't have that many friends here and Jeff and I still have never left the kids with a babysitter . . . so, I'll be hard-pressed to see it twice in Canada. How are things in Vernal?

And - Katie - I think it is a FAB-U-LOUS idea to see it when I'm in Utah. Seriously - let's pick a date. I'm not exaggerating my obsession . . . if anything, I'm trying to contain it. I will be in Utah the week of January 12th. I'll be in SLC Monday through Wednesday - and probably at Becky's the other days. So, I'll let you know ASAP which of the two weekends I'll be in Heber. I'm already excited. Utah, friends, dinner, a night out with girls and Edward . . . it sounds perfect. Amber, maybe we'll get lucky and you will be in town, too. I'll be your companion for #4!

  5. LOL... What a funny post. I totally agree with you though. Oh and Jasper!! I told my sisters that I thought he looked like that scissor hand dude too, and they looked at me funny, so I'm glad you feel the same way! I'm glad you finally read the books too. =)

  6. I'm with you girl. I have finished New Moon and am dying to get on to the next, but I can't let myself buy it, because I'm sure that it is a Christmas gift and I am stuck waiting. I'm tempted to go through presents and start on it...it makes sense to me, it's easier for me to read when I have time off work. Because, like you, I get obsessive and read late in the night. Lauryn just won't leave me alone to read! :)

  7. Amy, I know the feeling. There is no other time to read except for after the kids go to sleep. So sad. I don't know what alone time or couple time is anymore. :)

You are all making me feel much better. Seriously, what an effect this Edward has on us.

  8. you are crackin me up..I loved the books, I loved the movies and Tiffany and I talk of how you (not you as in you, but we) go through withdrawls when your finished reading it. I cant wait for you to come, we will for sure go see it again, it may be my last movie I see for a while and my last outing for that matter with the baby coming. It was soooo fun talking to you the other day, can't wait to stay up late talking more!! See you in a couple weeks yay!

  9. Hi, Karen! I was so excited to be invited to your blog. And to see that you share my crazy obsession with all things Twilight and Edward Cullen. (My husband read the books and went to the movie with me. He still thinks I'm crazy but he enjoyed them.)
